Improving Electronic Reliability - Through Product & Process Qualification at NPL

NPL's Electronic Interconnection Group will be presenting eight technical webinars over the coming months. The Group will also host a European Technical Seminar at its facility at Teddington, UK on the Tuesday 29th October.

This Group is internationally recognised for its practical and innovative work on lead-free reliability, PCB interconnection failures, tin whisker mitigation and conformal coating research.

These FREE online webinars provide you or a team of your company engineers with an opportunity to draw on years of practical experience without leaving your desk. The webinars focus on test methods used in industry to monitor or help evaluate possible failure modes in electronic assemblies.  Alternatively, you can attend our annual seminar and tabletop exhibition in October.

Each webinar will last approximately 60 mins and can be booked online by selecting the topic of choice from http://www.npl.co.uk/ei

Celebrating 20 years with new On Line Training Service

Bob Willis has been providing training and consultancy worldwide for over 20 years, and this year sees the launch of a new website service to the industry.

“I started training groups of production staff and made my first training video on de-soldering with Weller over 30 years ago. Now with a well established interactive training CD-ROM production activity with sales via IPC, SMTA, SMART and Dynamix Technology, on line training is a logical step commented Bob. Training online is very flexible for small and large groups of staff and can be arranged very quickly, even in hours, to solve specific production problem half way round the world” One criticism of internet presentations, in general, is they are boring, well this is not a comment received so far. With a good practical approach and the successful use of internet ready video material the subjects still have that one to one personal feel “

Internet based seminars represent an efficient way to develop practical knowledge, delivering expert advice and guidance when and where required. Internet delivery offers a low cost and time efficient training option. Our online seminars and video library can be accessed from the internet, eliminating the need to take time out of the office and avoid expensive travel costs.

Shown below are our forthcoming webinars and other training options.

0201-01005 Design, Assembly & Inspection                                  Monday, 23 May

BGA Rework & Repair Made Simple                                              Monday, 6th June

Double Sided Reflow Soldering Process Introduction                   Monday, 20th June

Solder Paste Stencil Printing, Inspection & Quality Control          Monday, 4th July

Management Overview of PCB Manufacture                                 Monday, 18th July

Management Overview of PCB Assembly Process                       Monday, 8th August

Conventional Through Hole Printed Circuit Board Repair                        Monday, 15th August

Introduction to Ball Grid Array (BGA) Design & Assembly Monday, 5th September

Public Internet Training

We are planning monthly technical seminars lasting 90mins with the opportunity to ask questions during or at the end of the session. The events will be scheduled on different manufacturing topics of interest to engineers and production staff working in printed circuit board assembly. They are also set at different times to accommodate global market

Company Internet Training

Company training seminars are provided in the same way as our regular monthly seminars but you can organise an event at a time and day that is convenient. These are normally split into two in depth sessions each lasting 90mins with a question and answer sessions. Again the flexibility of online training allows these sessions to be arranged in hours or days rather than weeks, a particularly important issue in contract assembly to overcome .

On Line Video Library

Over 25 videos covering all aspects of printed board assembly will be available to view online. The videos last between approx. 20–60mins and can be viewed 24/7. The video library will be available as a 6 month subscription service for a one off company site payment.

Customised Internet Training

Through our experience in many areas of manufacture we are able to provide customised web training presentations which can be presented to staff in their own conference room at a date and time of your choice. The training can be modified from existing sessions or specific topics. It’s also an ideal way for suppliers to train customers on materials, equipment or applications.
